Congratulations to Professor Murphy for her successful Global Experiences of Gender in an Age of Care Crises and Transformations hub

Congratulations to Professor Rachel Murphy for her success in the SSD Interdisciplinary Hubs funding round. We are delighted that her application for the Hub, led by Professor Rachel Murphy (PI) and Man-Yee (CI) on Global Experiences of Gender in an Age of Care Crises and Transformations was successful.

The Hub is the result of the teamwork of 35 members based in OSGA, in seven other departments in Oxford, overseas as well as practitioners in international organizations, NGOs, and business. The hub will explore how gendered inequalities underpin crises in care, with care referring to activities to meet human needs for food, shelter and nurturing, often embedded in routines of family life, while ‘bound up with inequitable social relations, power and global capitalism’ (Rosen, 1990). The hub will develop and consolidate an interdisciplinary, cross-regional and cross-sector critical mass of researchers whose research/methodologies, ideas and networks to forge research synergies and collaborations.
