Dr Felipe Krause speaks to CNN about Brazilian election results
Dr Felipe Krause spoke to CNN Amanpour following a dramatic weekend in the Brazilian runoff elections, resulting in a victory for Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva.
During the TV interview, Dr Krause discussed how the results were an 'upset to the upset' after Lula's opponent Flávio Bolsonaro had won the first round of voting. However, he argued that the narrow victory for Lula shouldn't obscure the structural strength of the right.
The wide-ranging interview also covered the reasons behind the results, including online mobilisation of voters and new economic packages, as well as the sensitivities of Bolsonaro's challenge to the election outcome and the reaction of international leaders in the region.
Dr Krause also stressed the importance of the need for the Workers' Party to adapt to the changing economic aspirations of younger Brazilians, and a rising middle class of entrepreneurs and app-based workers.
Dr Felipe KrauseLula's going to spend a lot of precious political capital merely keeping his agenda from eroding.
