Ana Lucía Peláez Echeverría joins the Latin American Centre as Teaching Fellow
We are delighted to welcome Dr Ana Lucía Pelaez Echeverría to the Latin American Centre as Teaching Fellow for the 2026–27 academic year.
Dr Peláez Echeverría completed her PhD in Latin American Studies at the University of Cambridge, where she was a Gates Cambridge Scholar. Her research focuses on socio-environmental conflict, resistance movements, and state–civil society relations in Latin America, with particular expertise on Guatemala. Her doctoral research examined resistance to hydroelectric projects in post-conflict Guatemala and the ways in which local communities contest and reshape development, governance, and peacebuilding processes.
During her time at the LAC, Ana Lucía will convene the option course Issues in Political Economy and co-convene Qualitative Research Methods with Prof. Eduardo Posada-Carbó, as well as supervise MSc students.
We are very pleased to have her joining the LAC community and look forward to working with her over the coming academic year.
